Encrypt a PDF so it asks for a password when opened.

A password stops people who do not know it from opening the file. Anyone who knows it can copy, print or pass the content on, so share it carefully and choose a long password.

Your files are never sent anywhere.

How to use it

  1. Drop one PDF file.
  2. Type the password readers will need. Optionally add a different owner password.
  3. Press Run and download the protected PDF.

Questions and answers

Which apps can open the protected file?

Adobe Acrobat, web browsers, phone apps and every common PDF app. It uses the standard, widely supported encryption.

What is the owner password for?

It is an administrator password that can change permissions or remove the protection. If you leave it empty, the password to open is used for both.

Is the password sent anywhere?

No. It is only used on this device to encrypt the file, and it is not stored.
